I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to explore all areas of art and art making, and that the arts play a huge role in learning and development for all ages. Giving students the opportunity to uses their hands and create something tangible is one of the most important things you can teach a child. Due to the significant influence of social media and technology, students are continuously seeking instant gratification and results within the classroom. Within my classroom, students are asked to slow down, question their work, and give it the time and space it deserves.

My art classroom is a safe space for students to engage with and create artwork that is meaningful to them. I encourage students to be their authentic selves and to show up each day with an open mind and heart. Students are able to create paintings, drawings, collages, sculptures, and everything in between. When you show students all of the possibilities of the art world outside of the traditional canon, it only expands their range of thinking, leading to further exploration.
